OUR TEAM

Dr. Amir started this website with a mission to empower you with unbiased facts about skincare and haircare products, so you can make informed decisions about your beauty routine. With nearly a decade of experience in the chemistry and materials world and specialized exposure to skincare and haircare, Dr. Amir has developed an unparalleled ability to detect the overwhelming presence of ineffective ingredients and formulations in the market. This knowledge was hard-earned when he was forced to find a solution to recover his mother’s skin after a kitchen explosion that burned her skin.

We invite you to explore what is here currently, keep an eye out weekly and monthly for what’s new, and if you have any suggestions or ideas, we’d love to hear them! Reach out to us using our contact page here. With Dr. Amir’s expertise and your feedback, together we will revolutionize the skincare and haircare industry.

Dr. Amir Chemist LLC is a media and consulting firm that creates empowering and informational content about the beauty industry. We have a goal to educate as many people as possible so they’re not just another number and user for skin & hair care brands. DR. AMIR

Dr Amir Chemist, aka officially as Dr. Ali R. Rahimi holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Minnesota State University and a Ph.D. in coating and polymeric materials from North Dakota State University. With nearly a decade of experience in the chemistry world, ranging from recycling plastics to formulating skincare, haircare, adhesives, and paints, to working as a materials scientist and biocompatibility expert in the medical device industry, Dr Amir is excited about chemistry and materials and gets appalled how these two fields affect our lives. You can find a list of his peer-reviewed published articles and patents in Google Scholar.

This excitement combined with the unfortunate fire that burned Dr Amir’s mother’s upper body led him to create Dr Amir Chemist LLC as a platform to share his knowledge with you, educate you, and support you on your skin and hair care journey.

Dr. Ali R. Rahimi is Dr Amir’s official name.

Dr. Amir holds a doctorate in coatings and polymeric materials from North Dakota State University and a bachelor of science in chemistry from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Dr. Rahimi has nearly a decade of experience in the chemistry and materials world, particularly over the 5 years he has been engaged with materials and formula developments for medical device, skincare, and haircare applications.

Additionally, Dr. Amir is a certified biocompatibility expert for medical devices who assesses the used materials for such applications are safe and non-toxic. Unlike beauty influencers and dermatologists who have limited chemistry knowledge, Dr. Amir stands out in the beauty field by relating specific ingredients and their output to skin and hair.

Dr. Amir says, “After my mom experienced 2nd-degree burn in a kitchen fire in June 2020, I got into skincare to recover my mother’s face and beauty.” Read more in the Story page

Dr. Amir’s mother experienced a 2nd-degree upper body burn after trapped gas in pipes exploded in the kitchen where she was cooking. Luckily, she survived and Dr. Amir was fortunate to have the skills and knowledge to ease her recovery. Read more in the Story page.

“Dr. Amir Chemist is a personal mission for me – it rings my soul, it reminds me of my mother, and it brings value to you. After I learned I cannot trust even the “popular” brands in the industry, dermatologists, or amateur influencers, I realized there is a need to disclose facts and share information in a simple way rather than in complex scientific terms. I have a goal to educate as many people as possible so they’re not just another number and user for skin & hair care brands. I want you to learn to choose the right product and skin/hair care routine for yourself.” – Dr. Amir

“Unlike many other online “experts”, I did not just start my online presence for fame, but it happened organically due to the sad incident which burned my mother’s face and upper body.

My educational and professional background well prepared me to help you on your skin and hair care journey. With a Ph.D. in a chemistry-related field, the experience of 100s of skin and hair care formulations, and research in various academic and industrial positions, I am confident I am the sole person who can analyze products at their molecular level and inform you about their pros and cons without bias.

Additionally, I am not sponsored by ANY skin or hair care product company. I have no intention of being sponsored at this moment as well. My loyalty lies to you, to me, and to my mother, as the consumers.” – Dr. Amir

Dr. Amir has formulated a variety of potent active serums. The products will be available for purchase under the brand name, Oretia (Pronounced “O-rea-sha”).

PRODUCTS REVIEW

Dr. Amir examines the ingredients and concentration of products to determine how effective they are. He also checks to make sure that the ingredients and claims match up so you know what you are getting. He also looks out for any chemicals that could be harmful in the products.

Dr. Amir does not prefer any one brand of products, instead he chooses products based on the ingredients they contain. He created his own line of serums, named Oretia, which contain clean and active ingredients to firm skin, fight dark spots, hydrate skin, repair the protective barrier layer, and delay the formation of wrinkles. Dr. Amir, his family and friends use these serums on a regular basis.

Dr. Amir believes natural ingredients deliver great benefits for the skin. However, he is very skeptical of most of the products in the market as they add natural ingredients such as fruit or plant extracts solely for marketing claims rather than efficacy.

Dr. Amir expresses,I support experimentbacked ingredients that are proven to be potent and effective. Natural isnt always better; you need both natural and labmade. The problem I have with natural ingredients is that the amount of specific actives in their composition that help skin is very low. Like imagine a carrot is known to be a source of vitamin A, but vitamin A, also known as retinol, is only a small percentage of a carrot’s total composition. If you put carrots on your face, you wont get as much benefit as putting pure labmade vitamin A (retinol). With labmade, at least you know exactly how much youre putting on your face, resulting in desired efficacy. A balance between the two, natural and labmade, is needed.”

Dr. Amir has not found any skincare or haircare products from doctors, dermatologists, or estheticians that are truly effective as of now. These people are not qualified to formulate their own products, but instead, they are profiting from the consumer by getting products made from contract labs and then branding them as their own. These formulas are not effective, are unstable, or contain harmful ingredients.

Dr. Amir is creating a skincare line called Oretia with effective serums for both men and women. This line will be available within the next 3 months. Stay tuned by following Oretia.

MEN SKINCARE

One of the most obvious distinctions between men and women is the type of facial hair they have. Females generally have thin, fine facial hair called vellus hair, while males have more developed and thicker hair, which is usually removed by shaving.

Shaving every day can be damaging to the skin as it physically exfoliates, leading to a weakening of the skin‘s barrier and dehydration. To counteract the drying effect of shaving, moisturizing the skin is essential to prevent any longterm damage. It is essential to consider hydration when creating a skin care regimen for men. It helps to give the skin a healthy and smooth look, while reducing itchiness, dryness, and distress.

As men grow older, their skin tends to become less hydrated; however, women can often maintain or even increase their skin moisture levels as they age. This difference in skin properties between genders indicates that men‘s skin should be given special attention with products designed to meet their needs.

Please review the men’s routines that Dr. Amir has provided on the Guides page. If you have any additional questions, you can comment on our social media posts, DM us, or send an email to hello@dramirchemist.com.

When it comes to tackling aging, fine lines, and wrinkles as a man, there are several steps you can take to help reduce the appearance of these signs of aging:

 1. Use a daily skincare routine:

Depending on your skin type, you can follow a prepared routine by Dr. Amir on the Guides page. We recommend choosing products that are specifically designed for men and are suitable for your skin type; however, there are many so-called products for men that are very ineffective and contain bad ingredients. Alternatively, you can purchase serums that Dr. Amir formulated specifically for men and sells under the brand name Oretia.

2. Invest in antiaging skincare products:

Look for products that contain active ingredients like vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid, not the other versions), vitamin B3 (niacinamide), vitamin A (retinol), amino acids and peptides (building blocks of skin collagen that sustain skin firmness), which can help to reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

3. Avoid too much sun exposure:

Sun exposure can speed up the aging process, so be sure to wear a hat and use a highSPF sunscreen when going outside. Keep using your sunscreen even if the weather is cloudy or you’re at home.

4. Stay hydrated:

Drinking plenty of water helps to keep your skin hydrated and replenished.

5. Manage stress:

High levels of stress can cause wrinkles and fine lines to appear prematurely, so make sure to get plenty of rest, exercise regularly, and practice relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation.

6. Consider professional treatments:

Dermal fillers and laser treatments are both options for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

It is essential that you seek medical attention right away if you are having any issues such as pain, burning, or blistering. We may have some videos or articles on caring for your skin after minor sunburn or using an OTC product, but if you are unsure or still experiencing distress, it’s best to contact a doctor or a dermatologist, or visit your nearest urgent care/emergency room.

If you are experiencing one of these medical conditions, it is important to go to a doctor or dermatologist to get a diagnosis. Your doctor may be able to prescribe medication or suggest other treatments. If you are looking for more general information about the condition or overthecounter products, we may have shared or will release content (i.e. videos or blog articles) in the future.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It is important to keep the health of you and your baby as a priority and it is always best to consult with your OBGYN, dermatologist, and primary care doctor. Generally, it is advisable to avoid retinoids, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide for acne treatment during pregnancy. However, there are other options that are safe to use during this time such as Azelaic acid and Clindamycin, Metronidazole, or Erythromycin (you need a presecription for the last three). When it comes to treating pigmentation (which is a normal occurance during pregnancy), glycolic acid and vitamin c might be a safe choice to try. Laser procedures, fillers, and neurotoxins such as Botox should be avoided due to the lack of safety data available. Microneedling and microdermabrasion can still be done if approved by a dermatologist or physician. Lastly, sunscreen is a must and should be a part of your skincare routine during pregnancy. Ask your doctor or derm for specific sunscreen ingredient recommendations.
